ACBJ Social Media

At American City Business Journals, I led the creation of the company's first editorial social media design system and workflow. From developing visual standards and reusable templates to testing production processes and collaborating across newsrooms, I built a scalable approach that helped teams create consistent, high-quality social content more efficiently while strengthening the ACBJ brand across platforms.

The challenge: Creating a sustainable style and workflow within our daily production structure

The workflow: Editors file a social post for one to five social cards on their local CMS social desk. Designers


Testing (3 months)

During this stage, I worked with the South Florida Business Journal to develop a style and workflow. We designed social cards for Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. I worked closely with our VP of Design to adjust styles until we landed on a style that reflected our journalistic and brand standards.


Expanded testing (1 month)

After establishing a style and workflow, we included eight other ACBJ newsrooms in our testing. I created libraries, stylesheets and templates in InDesign, and a workflow within our daily design structure in Sharepoint. I trained both designers and newsrooms on the present style and workflow.

Next steps

This post highlights the new businesses that opened in Baltimore’s Station North Arts District. The purpose of using photos is to showcase the different locations in a creative format, while still giving an address and tagging each business to give the audience options to explore.
